How Do I Tell if Somebody Has Copied My Web Information?

There are many unscrupulous webmasters out there who take it upon themselves to just copy complete pages of information without asking any kind of permission. It does not seem to matter to these people that as soon as a web page is created it is automatically copyrighted by the author. A great deal of work and research goes into creating useful unique web content and what's sad is that if people asked they would in most cases be given permission to publish with a simple request for a link acknowledgement on the article
Anyway if you suspect somebody has copied your work select a longish continuous section of text of say 20 words ... enough to ensure that this would be a unique string of text from something you've written. Copy and paste the complete string into the Google search box, surround it by double quotation marks (") and search. Google will quickly find if this information is anywhere in its data base. Of course only your page should come up in the search results. If other pages appear on Google SERPs the chances are very high that your work has been copied and of course you can just go to their site and investigate.
Such long searches were not possible in Google until fairly recently.
